For the funsies, for a few days, I thought I’d gather today some of the responses I’ve gotten from men after I’d deleted their first message.

I would say that I delete 80% of the first messages I receive. And that’s for all sorts of reasons. The biggest reason lately is that it’s been AI generated (and it’s very easy to tell!) but I also delete anything that is gross/immediately sexual, anything where it feels like a copy/paste message just talking about the man and what he wants. I’ll delete a message if it’s really low effort like ‘hey, how are you?’ And I’ll delete anything where they’re too far away, out of my age range or if I don’t like the look of them or their profile.

I know what I’m looking for, I know what my preferences are and why I have those preferences. I don’t need to ‘give ’em a chance’ or see what they have to say. So I delete.

And here are some of the charming messages I’ve received on the back of those deletions. This is just over a period of three days and is quite an inoffensive selection, I’d say.
